Iranian Foreign Minister: Iran agrees to hold the fourth round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States on the 11th

Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, May 9 (Reporter Shadati) Iranian Foreign Minister Aragic said on the 9th that Iran agreed to hold the fourth round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States on the 11th.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Aragic said in an interview with the media that day that Oman, who mediated the negotiations, had asked Iran about its views on the 11th as a new round of negotiation date, "we agree." He also said that apparently Oman had also asked the United States, "For now, the negotiations are scheduled to be held on Sunday (11th). Regarding the negotiations, we are waiting for coordination from Oman."

Aragic said the negotiations were moving forward and the more progress they were made, the more consultations and reviews were required, and the delegation needed more time to review the issues raised.

On May 1, Omani Foreign Minister Bader posted on social media that the fourth round of indirect negotiations between Iraq and the United States, which was originally scheduled to be held on May 3, was postponed, and the new negotiation date will be announced separately after consensus among all parties. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bagae issued a statement on the same day saying that Iran is still committed to reaching a "fair and lasting agreement."

Iran and the United States held the first round of indirect negotiations in Muscat, the capital of Oman on April 12. This is the first time that the two sides have officially started negotiations since the United States unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement in May 2018. Since then, the two sides held two rounds of indirect negotiations on April 19 and 26 respectively.
