Stay with you to the end! The U.S. threat escalates, and the Ministry of Commerce responds

According to the Ministry of Commerce website, on April 8, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce made a speech on the US threat to escalate tariffs on China.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce said that China noticed that on April 7, Eastern Time, the United States threatened to further impose 50% tariffs on China, and China firmly opposed this. If the US escalates tariff measures, China will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its rights and interests.

The spokesperson said that the US imposed so-called "reciprocal tariffs" on China without any basis and is a typical unilateral bullying practice. The countermeasures China has taken are to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests and maintain normal international trade order, which is completely legitimate. The US threat of escalating tariffs on China is a mistake and it has once again exposed the blackmail nature of the US, and China will never accept this. If the US insists on doing its own thing, China will definitely accompany you to the end.

The spokesperson said: "China reiterates that there is no winner in the trade war and there is no way out for protectionism. Pressure and threats are not the right way to deal with China. China urges the US to immediately correct its wrong practices, cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, stop economic and trade suppression on China, and properly resolve differences through equal dialogue with China on the basis of mutual respect."

Ministry of Commerce issues a series of announcements

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce has issued a series of important announcements on its official website. Specific measures include: filing a lawsuit against the United States for imposing "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese products at the World Trade Organization (WTO); including 11 American companies on the "unreliable entity list" and including 16 American entities on the export control list; launching an anti-dumping investigation on imported medical CT tubes originating from the United States and India, and launching the first domestic industrial competitiveness investigation on imported medical CT tubes.

On April 4, the Ministry of Commerce announced that 16 U.S. entities were included in the export control list, prohibiting the export of dual-purpose items to them. The spokesperson said that these entities have acts that may endanger China's national security and interests, and no export operator shall violate the relevant provisions of the "Export Control Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Export Control Regulations of the People's Republic of China" and other laws and regulations.

On the same day, the working mechanism of the Unreliable Entity List included 11 American companies including Scalio Company on the "Unreliable Entity List". The spokesperson said that in recent years, 11 companies including Scalio and BRINC UAV have carried out so-called military and technical cooperation with Taiwan despite China's strong opposition, seriously damaging China's national sovereignty, security and development interests. China has always carefully handled the issue of unreliable entities lists, and only targeted a very small number of foreign entities that endanger our national security in accordance with the law. Foreign entities that are honest and law-abiding have no need to worry at all.

In addition, the Ministry of Commerce launched an anti-dumping investigation on imported medical CT tubes originating from the United States and India, and launched an industrial competitiveness investigation on imported medical CT tubes.

The head of the Trade Relief Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce said that the two investigations were initiated at domestic industry applications, but there were differences in product scope, survey content, etc. The investigative agency will conduct two investigations in accordance with the law to fully protect the rights of all interested parties and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of domestic industries.

The Chinese government strongly condemns this, firmly opposes it, and has taken decisive measures to counter it. China's countermeasures are not only to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises, including US-funded enterprises, but also to prompt the United States to return to the correct track of the multilateral trading system. The root of the tariff problem lies in the United States. We hope that American-funded enterprises will trace the root cause and clarify the cause and effect, make rational voices, take pragmatic actions, jointly maintain the stability of global production and supply chains, and promote win-win cooperation.
