Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, April 8 (Xinhua) Iranian Foreign Minister Aragzi confirmed in the early morning of the 8th that Iran and the United States will hold indirect high-level negotiations in Oman on the 12th.
"It's both an opportunity and a test. The ball is in the hands of the United States," Aragzi wrote on social media.
Hours ago, after meeting with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States and Iran are in "direct" negotiations on the Iran nuclear issue. Iran has not responded to this statement yet.
Trump told the media after the meeting: "We are having direct talks with Iran, the talks have begun and will continue on Saturday (12th). We will hold a very important meeting to see what will happen. I think everyone agrees to reach an agreement is a better choice."
Trump also said he hopes to reach an agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue and he is not interested in participating in other solutions.
Iranian President Pezekiziyan said on the 6th that Iran seeks to negotiate on its nuclear program, but “will not take any cost” and “Americans should also prove that they are seeking negotiations.” He reiterated that Iran's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only and that "Iran does not seek war, unrest and nuclear bombs."
