Sinovac Group discusses in-depth discussions with Colombian government officials to further promote localization projects

On the afternoon of May 14, 2025, during the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Latin America Forum, commissioned by Colombian President Petro, Colombian Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism Sierro Rushink and Colombian Minister of Science and Technology Innovation Jesenya Olaya, accompanied by Colombian Ambassador to China, met with Yin Weidong, President and CEO of Sinovac Group, Meng Weining, Vice President, and Cinthia, Director of Latin America International Organizations, and discussed in depth. They jointly exchanged views on the progress of the BogotáBio vaccine factory project jointly with the BogotáBio City Government of the Colombian capital Bogota, and agreed to promote the implementation of the project as soon as possible.

Yin Weidong introduced the situation of the BogotáBio project to Rushink and said that Sinovac will establish a full-production line vaccine production base for Colombia, including hepatitis A vaccine, chickenpox vaccine and polio vaccines, and other vaccines that the Colombian people currently need. Sinovac Group is promoting the implementation of projects in accordance with the international advanced level, and realize the localized production of vaccines in Colombia as soon as possible, benefiting the people of Colombia.

Yin Weidong emphasized that vaccines are strategic materials, and vaccine cooperation is beneficial to the government and the people.

The Bogotá Municipal Government took active actions to formulate a localized vaccine bidding project and bid to the world. Sinovac Group participated in it and successfully won the bid. The two parties jointly invested in the establishment of BogotáBio.

Rushink said that the two ministers congratulated and appreciated the achievements made by Sinovac Group in Colombia, and conveyed President Petro's support to Sinovac, saying that they would do their best to help promote the BogotáBio vaccine factory project.

Taking root in Latin America is an important measure for the implementation of Sinovac Internationalization Strategy. The goal of Sinovac's vaccine factory project is to help Colombia and Latin America obtain technical capabilities in the entire chain of vaccine research and development, production, supply and quality control. At the same time, in order to better cope with the harassment of new infectious diseases, Sinovac Group will work with Latin American partners to establish a mechanism for epidemic monitoring and early warning and the scientific research capabilities to quickly develop new prevention means for new pathogens to jointly respond to future challenges.
