On the evening of April 6, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei United Orchestra, initiated by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and jointly formed by the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra and the Hebei Symphony Orchestra, took the stage at the National Grand Theater. Under the baton of famous conductor Tan Lihua, Yi Juanzi, permanent conductor of Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, and Tuo Peng, permanent conductor of Hebei Symphony Orchestra, a 120-person orchestra and a 100-person Beijing Music Association choir performed a symphony chorus concert "The Great Wall" with a huge lineup.
The Great Wall symphony chorus concert is one of the "two openings" performances specially planned by the National Grand Theater for the 9th Chinese Symphony Spring. After the golden waltz night brought by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, this symphonic epic with the theme of the Great Wall interprets the Chinese charm of the mountains and rivers.
The famous conductor Tan Lihua commented on the concert's selection, "This is a concert with rich forms and creativity. The first half is an instrumental work, the second half is a symphony chorus, and each work is related to the Great Wall." One works are played one after another, and the melody aroused surging waves in the hearts of the audience. Amid the applause of the audience, Tan Lihua directed the audience to play "My Motherland", and the classic melody gave the concert a shocking end.
During the concert, a luxurious lineup of 120 performers sat on the stage of the National Grand Theater Concert Hall. They are the "elite troops" from the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, and the Hebei Symphony Orchestra. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Joint Symphony Orchestra, which was jointly formed, officially debuted in Beijing for the first time.
"The three symphony orchestras have their own styles and their performance habits are not exactly the same, but the joint orchestra is composed of elites from the three orchestras. When everyone works together for one goal, they all come to their best state, and the rehearsal becomes very efficient." Tuo Peng sighed.
Li Changjun, head of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, introduced that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Symphony Art Development Alliance was established in 2019. It aims to promote innovative breakthroughs in symphony art in the fields of creation, performance, talent training and market expansion by integrating resources from the three places and deepening cooperation mechanisms. In early March this year, the Development Alliance was listed in the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. "In addition to planning and holding the Great Wall symphony chorus concert, we have also planned for the upcoming talent exchange, commissioned creation, and joint performances to be carried out in the future." Li Changjun said, "As the degree of integration of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei becomes higher and higher, the integration of the cultural field will become more and more in-depth."
