China hopes that the international community will create favorable conditions for promoting political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis

Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, April 8. Geng Shuang, the interim office of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, said on the 8th that the contradictions involved in the Ukrainian crisis are complex, and there is still a big gap in positions and propositions on a series of key issues. There is still a long way to go to restore peace. China hopes that the international community will issue more rational voices of ceasefire and stop war, persuade and promote talks, and create positive atmosphere and favorable conditions for promoting political resolution of the crisis.

Geng Shuang said in the Security Council that day that the Ukrainian issue is approaching a critical moment for negotiations to resolve the issue. Although the battlefield situation is still complex, the momentum of peace talks has emerged and the peace window is opening. China welcomes the recent negotiations between Russia, the United States and Ukraine and the United States, and encourages all efforts toward peace. Wars took place on the European continent, and Europe certainly had to play a role in peace. China supports all parties and stakeholders to participate in the peace talks process, resolve the root causes of the crisis, and reach a fair, lasting, binding and accepted by all parties.

Geng Shuang said that the Ukrainian crisis has been delayed to this day, the war has not stopped, and ordinary people have suffered profound suffering. Under no circumstances should civilians and civilian infrastructure be targeted. Parties to the conflict should strictly abide by international humanitarian law and make every effort to protect the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure. The international community and humanitarian institutions should carry out humanitarian rescue efforts on the basis of adhering to the principles of humanitarianism, neutrality, justice and independence.
