German army will be equipped with suicide drones for the first time

According to foreign media reports, the German Wehrmacht will sign the first batch of suicide drone procurement contracts with the two companies in the near future, and will be tested by the Army, Air Force and Navy in the next few months, marking the first time the German Wehrmacht will be equipped with suicide drones.

The first batch of contracts will adopt the "small batch trial assembly + fast iteration" model. In the initial stage, only training machines will be purchased, and then the purchase quantity will be increased. The German Wehrmacht plans to sign a long-term contract by the end of this year to expand the number of suicide drones and shorten the new weapon installation cycle. The German Wehrmacht stressed that suicide drones and anti-UAV systems will become the "standard survival configuration" of modern soldiers, and all military personnel should receive relevant training and master drone operation skills.

In March, the German parliament approved a plan to grow defense spending for hundreds of billions of euros, and the procurement is one of its important measures to strengthen "future battlefield perception capabilities." It is worth mentioning that although Germany emphasizes that suicide drones are mainly used for defense, Germany is simultaneously revising its arms sales policy. Previously, the parliament has lifted the ban on arms exports to participating countries, which has aroused opposition from domestic pacifist groups.
