Xinhua News Agency, Cairo, April 17 (Reporter Xin Jianqiang and Zhang Jian) The 4th China-Africa Civilization Dialogue Conference was held in Ismailia, a city in northeastern Egypt on the 16th. The theme of the conference was "The Modern Value of Classical Wisdom - The Inspiration and Mirror of Ancient Chinese Civilizations to Contemporary Global Challenges". More than 100 well-known experts, scholars, diplomatic envoys, media reporters from China and Africa attended the event.
In his opening speech, Gao Xiang, President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that the theme of this China-Africa Dialogue Conference is not only an important practice for implementing the spirit of the Beijing Summit of the 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum, but also a vivid footnote to the implementation of the global civilization initiative, and a smart gift to the construction of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era. China and Africa have not only become models of South-South cooperation and building a community with a shared future for mankind, but also declare to the world that developing countries can create a new form of human civilization with an independent attitude and embark on a modernization path different from the Western model. Gao Xiang put forward three initiatives on deepening mutual learning between China and Africa: tracing the source of civilization and enlightening modern governance with classical wisdom; gathering innovation to promote development practice with civilization dialogue; shouldering the responsibilities of the times, and reshaping civilization narratives with China and Africa.
Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang said that this conference adheres to the spirit of passing the exchanges and mutual learning of ancient Chinese and African civilizations to jointly respond to today's global challenges, once again reflecting the high degree of compatibility of China-Africa civilization concepts, fully demonstrating China and Africa's firm pace of jointly implementing the global civilization initiative and the responsibility of the times. As China and Africa embark on a new stage of building a community of shared future together with a new era, China is willing to continue to work with all African countries to build a strong sense of community with a shared future, deepen mutual learning between China and Africa civilizations, jointly respond to regional challenges, work together to safeguard international fairness and justice, and inject more certainty into the peaceful and stable development of China and Africa and the world.

Izart Saad, director of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Committee, said that China's global civilization initiative has added cultural and humanistic dimensions to Africa-China cooperation and promoted deeper mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides. Through platforms such as the China-Africa Dialogue Conference, the two sides strengthen cultural and social ties and promote the establishment of a long-term partnership based on common interests and mutual understanding.
Saad Zaglule, vice president of the Suez Canal University in Egypt, said that the meeting was held in Egypt, affirming Egypt's regional and international status as an important bridge between the East and the West, and its outstanding role in promoting mutual understanding between different cultures and nations. As practical examples, Suez Canal University and its Confucius Institute have built a platform for talent training and cultural exchanges between Egypt and China through mechanisms such as academic exchanges, vocational training and enterprise employment forums, and have linked other African Confucius Institutes to share experience, break down cooperation barriers, and jointly promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Africa in the new era.
This China-Africa Dialogue Conference is co-organized by the China Academy of Social Sciences Institute of China and the Suez Canal University in Egypt. The conference set up three sub-forums: "Mutual Learning of Governance Experience in Central and African Classical Civilizations", "Urban and Rural Governance in the Process of Modernization Construction: Challenges and Responses", and "Archaeological Cooperation and Cultural Relics Protection".
