According to the New York Times, four people familiar with the matter revealed that US Secretary of Defense Hegses sent sensitive information about the US military's attack on Yemen's Houthi armed forces in a group chat on the communications application Signal on March 15 local time.

According to the New York Times on April 20, an insider pointed out that the information shared in the Hegses group chat includes the flight schedule of the F/A-18 Bumblebee fighter jets targeting the Houthis in Yemen.
Reuters said that the details of the attack shared by Hegses were the same as those previously disclosed by the Atlantic monthly magazine. Goldberg, editor-in-chief of the Atlantic monthly magazine, was also mistakenly pulled into the group chat of senior officials discussing the crackdown on the Houthi armed operations in Yemen.
The report pointed out that Hegsey's wife Jennifer was a US Fox News producer and was not an employee of the US Department of Defense. But she had accompanied Hegess on a foreign trip and was criticized for following Hegess for attending sensitive meetings with foreign military officials.
The New York Times also said that Hegses' younger brother and lawyer both work in the Pentagon. It is not clear why the two need to understand the U.S. military operations against the Houthis in Yemen.
People familiar with the matter said that unlike the "Atlantic" monthly group chat leak, Goldberg was mistakenly pulled into the group chat by senior American officials, and the newly exposed group chat was created by Hegses in January, with members including his wife and "professional core circle".
The Pentagon has not responded to a request for comment.
According to previous reports, the American magazine "Atlantic" monthly magazine published an article on March 24 saying that senior U.S. national security officials pulled the magazine's editor-in-chief Goldberg into a confidential group chat about the fight against the Houthi armed forces in Yemen, who learned about the air strike plan two hours before the US military operation.
