As the United States wields the "big stick" of tariffs to disrupt the global economic and trade order, the number of brands and companies participating in the Consumer Expo and Canton Fair held by China hit a record high.

As the largest consumer boutique exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region, this Consumer Expo attracted more than 1,700 consumer companies from 71 countries and regions, with more than 4,100 participating brands. The Canton Fair, which is regarded as the "barometer" and "weather vane" of China's foreign trade, attracted a total of about 31,000 exhibitors this year, of which the export exhibition exceeded 30,000 for the first time, an increase of nearly 900 from the previous year. As of the 19th, 148,585 overseas buyers from 216 countries and regions around the world attended the meeting, an increase of 20.2% over the same period last year.

There are crowds in the venue, and cooperation intentions are frequently reached at the docking meeting... Faced with the uncertainty brought about by US tariff policies, many companies regard opening up the Chinese market as an important strategic choice. Yin Ji, chief representative of the Investment Promotion Bureau of São Paulo State in Brazil, said that the Consumer Expo provides valuable opportunities for São Paulo State to enter the Chinese market and helps the two sides deepen cooperation. Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao reported that many exhibitors hope to use the Canton Fair, a platform of "all-round business gatherings" to open up a larger market to reduce their dependence on the US market.

Zayed, CEO of Abu Dhabi Investment Group, said that as one of the world's largest consumer markets, China's domestic demand still has further growth potential, and China's growing global influence also provides more opportunities for expanding cross-border trade and investment. Mark Clayton, president of the British Chamber of Commerce in South China, said that China's vibrant consumption sector still contains huge investment and sales potential.

China is embracing the world with a more proactive and open attitude. From the continuous "slimming" of the negative list of foreign investment access to continuous optimization of the business environment, from expanding the global high-standard free trade zone network to the comprehensive relaxation and optimization of transit visa-free policies, these measures all show that China is the world's market and the opportunity of various countries, and China's door to opening up will only open wider and wider. Data shows that in 2024, China established 59,000 new foreign-invested enterprises, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year.

"The more successful China is, the more successful we will be." This sentence said by California Governor Newsom of the United States coincides with the "success of China and the United States is each other's opportunity" that China has always emphasized. Huang Renxun, president and CEO of Nvidia, recently visited China, admitted frankly: "In-depth cooperation with Chinese companies has enabled us to grow into a more internationally competitive company." All these show that only when cooperation and win-win can we achieve things, do good things, and do big things.

The popularity of the Consumer Expo and the Canton Fair has shown the world the vitality of China's economy, the driving force for innovative development, and the open mind as a responsible major country. Today, when trade protectionism is raging against the current, China has proved with practical actions that what can truly promote global economic growth is not tariff barriers, but innovation-driven industrial ecology and mutually beneficial and win-win international cooperation.
