On April 22, the "Global Industry Common Development Forum (2025)" hosted by the United Nations Training Institute (UNITAR), academic support from Tsinghua University's Global Industry Research Institute and hosted by Zhiyi Industry Research Institute was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Ambassador Mark Suhasso, Director of the New York Office of the United Nations Training Institute and Director of the Global Arts and Cultural Development Institute, Liu Liqun, Counselor of China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, and Zeng Jinsong, Secretary-General of the Global Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University, attended and delivered speeches. Representatives of missions from various countries to the United Nations and people from all walks of life attended the meeting.
Professor He Zhiyi, chief expert of the Global Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University, released the research report "Global Industrial Structure Research 2025 - Data Analysis Based on Listed Companies". Based on the data of 48,618 listed companies around the world, the report systematically analyzes the global industrial structure, calculates the industrial strength coefficients of each country through core indicators such as market value, revenue, and profit, and evaluates the strength of each country in different industrial fields based on the national attributes of the enterprises. The study revised the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS), conducted a detailed analysis and sorting out the national industrial strength and enterprise strength of 163 fourth-level industries, and focused on analyzing the industrial advantages and leading enterprises of major economies such as the United States, China, Japan, and Europe. The study also analyzed the proportion of science and technology industries, manufacturing industries, productive services and life services in various countries.
Three researchers from Professor He Zhiyi's research team, Dr. Chen Li, founder of Hualing Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Zhang Zhanwu, Vice President of the Chinese Labor Society, and Wu Xi, editor-in-chief of Zhiyi Sixiang, shared thematic topics on the opportunities and challenges of the global pharmaceutical industry, the correction research of the Global Industrial Classification Standards (GICS), and global industrial concentration and industrial structure.
Edmund S. Phelps, winner of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Economics and Chair Professor of Columbia University, German scholar and management thinker Hermann Simon, dean of the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, and Amaj Rahimi Midani, an outstanding expert in Costa Rica, gave keynote speeches on topics such as the analysis and reference of the causes of the economic recession, the role of a middle-sized market leader, the global impact of Drucker management ideas, and the innovation and promotion of sustainable development.
As an academic research institution, the Global Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University responded to and participated in the "Global Development Initiative" (GDI) advocated by China, and will be committed to strengthening cooperation with various international organizations, research institutions, think tanks and industry-leading enterprises around the world, and contribute to building a more reasonable, more complete and better global industrial ecosystem.
