Shenzhou 20 astronaut crew entered China Space Station

At 17:17 on April 24, the Long March 2 F Yao 20 carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou 20 manned spacecraft was ignited and launched at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. About 10 minutes later, the Shenzhou 20 manned spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket and entered the pre-determined orbit. At 23:49, the Shenzhou 20 manned spacecraft successfully connected to the radial port of the space station Tianhe core module. At 1:17 on the 25th, the Shenzhou 19 astronaut crew, which was performing a mission in orbit, successfully opened its "home" and welcomed the Shenzhou 20 astronaut crew from afar to settle in the Chinese space station. This is the 6th "space meeting" in China's aerospace history.

The reporter learned from the China Manned Space Engineering Office that in the future, the two astronaut crews will be rotated in orbit at the space station. During the work and life of the space station, the Shenzhou 20 astronaut crew will carry out a number of practical (test) tests and applications, carry out multiple out-of-cabin activities, and complete tasks such as the installation of space station debris protection devices, installation and recovery of out-cabin loads and out-cabin platform equipment.

The space application system led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences has carried out three scientific experiments in the field of space life sciences along with the Shenzhou 20 manned spacecraft. The upward samples and devices include zebrafish, planarians, streptomyces, etc., with a total weight of about 28 kilograms.

In a space weightless environment, microgravity can lead to adverse reactions such as skeletal muscle loss, arrhythmia, and myocardial remodeling, which is also an important challenge that humans need to face in deep space exploration. The research project on protein homeostasis regulation mechanisms for weightless bone loss and myocardial remodeling will be completed with the help of 6 zebrafish. These "fish navigators" include 3 wild-type zebrafish and 3 knockout zebrafish. They will stay in the space station for more than 30 days. This is also the first international on-orbit experiment to be conducted using zebrafish that perform gene knockout.

Planculiaria is a flat animal with strong regeneration capabilities. The impact of space microgravity and radiation environment on planaris regeneration and mechanism exploration project is the first planaris space regeneration experiment carried out in China, and will further understand the basic mechanism of regeneration from the individual level. The research results help solve health problems such as human space damage and ground aging.

Streptomyces plays an important role in soil improvement, ecosystem construction and maintenance, and can also produce a rich and diverse secondary metabolites, such as antibiotics. The research project on the effect mechanism of space microgravity on microorganisms will carry out changes and mechanisms of Streptocytica growth, development differentiation, synthesis of biologically active substances, and population passage succession in space microgravity environments, laying the foundation for the use of space environmental resources to develop microbial application technologies and products.

This mission is the fifth manned flight mission in which my country's manned space engineering has entered the stage of space station application and development. Up to now, 26 astronauts and 41 people have entered space to carry out flight missions in my country. (Reporter He Pei, Lu Chengkuan, Ye Qing)
