The report quoted the news released by the governor of Hormuzgan Province, where the port of Shahidrajay is located, that so far 40 people have been killed in the explosion. According to statistics from Hormuzgan Medical University, more than 1,000 people were injured in the explosion, of which about 950 have been discharged after treatment.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian President Pezehiziyan said at a crisis management meeting held at the Port of Abbas, the capital of Hormuzg Province, on the evening of the 27th that the management status of the Port of Shahidrajay is unacceptable. The port has stored 120,000 to 140,000 containers for a long time, and such a number of containers has left the port in a disorderly state. Pezeshiziyan directed that full support should be provided to affected families.
Iran's supreme leader Khamenei requested a thorough investigation into the explosion in the Shahidrajai Port on the 27th, and said that he would never tolerate any negligence or deliberate behavior.
Shahidrajay Port is a large commercial port in Iran, close to the Strait of Hormuz. It mainly deals with container business and has petrochemical facilities such as oil storage tanks. It is reported that the port has an area of about 2,400 hectares and an annual cargo throughput capacity of 70 million tons. The port consists of 23 piers with a water depth of 15 meters. Only one pier was severely damaged by the explosion. Iran's national petroleum product refining and distribution company said that the oil facilities near the port where the incident was not affected by the explosion.
