Tsinghua University sets up artificial intelligence hospital

Tsinghua University recently announced the establishment of an artificial intelligence hospital. In the early stage, it will build an AI hospital system based on the school's comprehensive AI layout and the intersection of multidisciplinary medical and industrial medicine. Relying on the trial operation of Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital and Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Internet Hospital, it will be piloted by general medicine and ophthalmology, radiology diagnosis, respiratory and other specialties. In the future, we will build an ecological closed loop of "AI + Medical + Education + Scientific Research" to promote the efficient expansion and balanced layout of high-quality medical resources, and strive to allow more people to enjoy affordable and sustainable high-quality medical services.

  The school said that the establishment of an artificial intelligence hospital is a new measure for Tsinghua University to leverage its scientific and engineering advantages to empower the development of medicine. Artificial intelligence hospitals aim to break the operation model of "traditional hospital + AI", drive clinical medical services, integrate AI intelligent functions from the bottom of design, assist doctors in making precise decisions, improve medical service efficiency and patient satisfaction, reduce hospital operating costs, and promote the solution to the shortage of grassroots general practitioners. In the future, hospitals will also serve as an important scenario for Tsinghua medical education and an important platform for the cultivation of medical talents, and cultivate a new generation of "AI collaborative doctors".

  Artificial intelligence is the key engine of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and smart medical care has important research and application value as a key intersection. The reporter learned that the internal testing system of "Bauhinia AI Doctor" developed by the Tsinghua team was launched last year. It has achieved accelerated evolution of AI doctors based on the "closed-loop" medical virtual world, laying the foundation for the construction of artificial intelligence hospitals and research and application of intelligent medical bodies in the field.

  According to the relevant person in charge, "closed-loop" refers to the complete process of intelligent hospitals covering the onset of diseases, triage, consultation, examination, diagnosis, treatment, medication, and rehabilitation; accelerated evolution means that intelligent hospitals are a time accelerator, and the time elapses in the virtual world is about 100 times that of the real world. AI doctors can complete the long evolution in the virtual world in a short time in the real world. At present, a total of 42 AI doctors from different departments have officially unveiled the diagnosis system, covering more than 300 diseases in 21 departments. For each disease, the "Bauhinia AI Doctor" system conducts precise classification diagnosis and treatment based on the latest authoritative medical textbooks, academic journals and diagnosis and treatment guidelines, and fully utilizes the advantages of AI in "reading" and "understanding" massive medical literature in a short period of time to provide diagnosis and treatment plans.
