Today, humanoid robots are exploring applications in daily life scenarios. On the streets of Binjiang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, the intelligent police robot "Bin Xiaoxin" equipped with a domestic big model can already carry out patrol missions. It is not only equipped with explosion-proof security check function, but also provides some emergency assistance services.
As early as 2017, Zhejiang issued the "Zhejiang Province "Robot +" Action Plan", focusing on promoting the application of robots in various economic and social fields and the development of the robot industry. From humanoid robots on the marathon track to humanoid robots patrolling the police... a batch of "humanoid robots" from Zhejiang are opening up endless possibilities.
Deeply cultivate R&D to improve cutting-edge technologies
In the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Snake, a video of a humanoid robot wearing a red cotton jacket and turning red cloth and dancing yangko was widely spread. They change their formations from time to time, dance their bodies, and turn handkerchiefs from multiple angles and play with flowers, attracting cheers from the audience.
These are H1 robots from Hangzhou Yushu Technology. They come with high-precision 3D laser SLAM autonomous positioning and navigation, multi-agent collaborative planning, advanced networking solutions, and full-body artificial intelligence motion control. They not only accurately keep up with the rhythm of the music, but also adjust movements in real time to ensure steady steps and neat movements.
"The maturity of artificial intelligence-related technologies gives shape robots the opportunity to evolve a truly intelligent brain and become an intelligent body with independent perception, decision-making and execution capabilities." Wang Xingxing, founder of Yushu Technology, said, "We have opened up a new product line of humanoid robots. With the advancement and optimization of technology, the price of humanoid robots will move closer to the consumer level like the company's hot-selling four-legged robots, and use technological innovation to light up new consumption scenarios."
In the test space on the roof of Yushu Technology, the R&D personnel operated the remote control while performing algorithm upgrades on a humanoid robot: the robot can move forward steadily under the interference of various obstacles, and can also achieve smooth dance performances and martial arts movements, from twisting waists and crossing steps to complex choreography, flowing.
"Through deep learning and reinforcement learning models, the robot can analyze dance movements in real time and adjust joint torque and motion trajectory independently to achieve coherence and stability of the movement." Wang Xingxing said that the algorithm's open source adaptation and motion capture data optimization enable the robot to quickly learn any dance style, and even improvise to adjust according to the rhythm of the music.
Today, Yushu Technology has more than 180 domestic and foreign patents, including more than 150 authorized patents, covering multiple fields such as core parts of robots, motion control and perception. Some core components of Yushu Robot, such as motors, reducers, encoders, etc., are self-developed and produced, which can better control costs and product performance and quality.
In addition to the company's own R&D investment, collaborative innovation is also crucial.
Walking into the Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center located in Haishu District, Ningbo City, the humanoid robot "Navigator" holds the baton and waves his hands naturally, like a symphony conductor, without any lag in the movements. "We collected musicians' actions to map them to the robot. Through the fusion of joint performance and algorithms, we solved the problem of robots' high dynamic and precise control," said Xu Xuecheng, technical director of the Innovation Center.
Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center is a provincial innovation platform, jointly built by the Ningbo Municipal Government and several well-known enterprises, focusing on the research and development of core technologies of humanoid robots. Nowadays, hundreds of scientific researchers have gathered here, most of whom are algorithm engineers and mechanical engineers. "To make the shape robots be applied in more scenarios, it is necessary to strengthen its coordination ability. We hope to integrate the algorithms accumulated by the robots in various scenarios into a 'brain' through discipline fusion, so that the shape robots can move more agile and smarter," said Xu Xuecheng.
In September last year, the "Implementation Plan for the Innovation and Development of the Humanoid Robot Industry in Zhejiang Province (2024-2027)" was issued to make forward-looking layout and accelerate the innovative development of the humanoid robot industry in Zhejiang. This year, Hangzhou proposed to support humanoid robot enterprises to build various R&D institutions and innovation consortiums, and provide a subsidy of up to 5 million yuan. From the government to enterprises to scientific research institutions, we continue to invest to help Zhejiang seize the commanding heights of competition for humanoid robots.
Cluster ecology and sound industrial supporting facilities
In Haishu District, Ningbo, a humanoid robot production factory is under construction. It is expected that after the production is put into production this year, a assembly line can produce 100 humanoid robots annually. In addition to technological research and development, Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center also undertakes the function of industrial chain integration, and has established cooperative relationships with many local manufacturing companies in Ningbo, forming a closed loop from R&D to production.
Ningbo Junsheng Electronics Co., Ltd. provides high-precision components for humanoid robots, while Ningbo Sunny Optoelectronics Information Co., Ltd. provides it with core control systems... The close cooperation between upstream and downstream has continuously improved the competitiveness of Ningbo's humanoid robot industry chain and the industrial ecology has been continuously improved.
"While promoting the development of humanoid robots as a whole, integrating forces from all parties to develop core components such as motors, reducers, and drivers, and providing relevant application scenarios, which is more conducive to promoting the overall development of the humanoid robot industry." A relevant person in charge of Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center said.
Now, such cooperation is being carried out across Zhejiang Province.
When you walk into Zhejiang Xinxude Electric Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xinxude) located in Jinyun, Lishui, technicians are conducting scientific research and development and production of special servo motors for humanoid robots.
"The final finished motor is only the size of a palm, but it is an indispensable and important component of humanoid robots." Xu Guizhou, general manager of Xinxude, said that the servo motor is controlled in closed loop through the servo drive and cooperates with the encoder of the internal rotor to achieve precise positioning motion control. It is often used in scenarios that require high-precision control, and has a high technical content.
Founded in September 2020, Xinxude is a micromotor design and manufacturing enterprise with independent research and development and production capabilities, and can produce 15 million micromotors annually. The products are widely used in various household appliances.
"The application scenarios span from home appliance accessories to robot joints. The span seems to be very large, but in fact they are essentially the translation of precision manufacturing capabilities." Xu Guizhou said that the company has currently engaged in technical connection with Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and will work together to overcome the key technologies of humanoid robot motion control systems.
Through the industrial layout of "dislocated competition and complementary advantages", Zhejiang has promoted local governments to develop humanoid robot-related industries based on their own advantages.
Hangzhou and Ningbo rely on specialized and new enterprises to gather advantages to improve the supply level of key components such as execution control components and new sensors; Wenzhou, Shaoxing and Lishui rely on the advantages of motors and bearing industries to develop parts such as humanoid robots; Taizhou, Quzhou and other places based on their own industrial characteristics to develop precision reducers, servo systems and new encoders... Nowadays, the main links such as the whole machine, core components, and software systems can basically find industrial supporting facilities in Zhejiang Province. This regional coordinated development model not only avoids homogeneous competition, but also builds a complete industrial chain.
This is closely related to Zhejiang's deep foundation in automotive parts manufacturing. The integrated joints, reducers, lead screws and other components required for automobile production are an important part of the "limbs" of humanoid robots. In 2024, Zhejiang's automobile complete vehicle production reached 1.742 million, and the revenue of the new energy vehicle industry cluster exceeded one trillion yuan. The entire industrial chain of automobile parts manufacturing in Zhejiang, as well as the huge industrial scale and technological accumulation behind it, have laid a solid foundation for the development of the humanoid robot industry.
Careful service to optimize the business environment
In April last year, three young people who graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University came to Xiaoshan and founded Hangzhou Xingsi Wujie Technology Co., Ltd. Today, the company has developed a humanoid robot - "iron iron", which can "sit on flat ground" in complex terrain, like a "powerful porter".
Xingsi Wujie team initially "lived" in a building near the Xiaoshan District Government, with only a 50-square-meter office. Later, the team expanded to 10 people and the office also expanded to 170 square meters.
"It is still difficult to complete all aspects of R&D, assembly, and testing in such a space. We have always wanted to find a large venue that meets the testing conditions." In March this year, Sun Xudong, secretary of the Xiaoshan District Party Committee, visited and investigated robot companies, and Mao Liheng, co-founder of Xingsi Wujie, and his team made a request.
In less than a month, the new venue has been found, and Mao Liheng and his team are busy moving. "The new venue is very spacious and has 500 square meters. This year we will continue to 'recruiting troops' and increase R&D investment." Mao Liheng is very satisfied with the "new home". He also has large supermarkets, star-rated hotels, international schools, etc. around him, and has complete functional supporting facilities, which are both suitable for both business and living.
This is a microcosm of Xiaoshan's in-depth visits to the front line of enterprises to alleviate difficulties and solve problems for enterprises. "We will actively create a good ecology that is conducive to the development of the humanoid robot industry, and help enterprises accelerate and seize the forefront in new areas that are related to future development." Sun Xudong said that Xiaoshan has cultivated and built a robot characteristic town, gathering more than 80 national high-tech enterprises, and forming a complete robot industry ecosystem around the development, production and assembly of core components and special machines of humanoid robots.
The vision turns to the Future Science and Technology City in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. Zhicheng Yingda (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd., a company that has just turned one year old, recently released a new composite humanoid robot - a standard 175 cm body with a 0.7-meter intelligent lifting system. This all-round robot is specially designed for grid handling system environments and is suitable for industrial and family scenarios.
In March last year, the founder Hu Luhui came to Hangzhou Future Science and Technology City. With the assistance of staff, the office space was successfully implemented within two weeks. Within one month, the company Zhicheng Yingda (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. was successfully registered. At the same time, Future Science and Technology City also provided him with help in corporate financing, talent declaration, etc.
"What are the confusions you have at this stage to communicate with you?" "What are the good market opportunities you can share..." In the Cainiao Zhigu Industrial Park of the Future Science and Technology City, including Hu Luhui, the CEOs of the companies who settled in the company gather together every one month to participate in entrepreneur community seminars held in the industrial park, and carry out in-depth learning and discussions around practical business topics.
"Serving enterprises with heart and emotion will make us develop here with peace of mind and satisfaction." Hu Luhui said that the local area gathers technology, talents, scenarios, and capital elements to build an innovative ecosystem like a "tropical rainforest" to meet the needs of enterprises at different stages of growth, and create a comprehensive and accurate full-life cycle service system.
A relevant person in charge of the Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission said that Hangzhou will adhere to the main line of "deep integration and promotion of scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation", and further promote the continuous growth of the humanoid robot industry through innovation-driven, machine-driven, and scene-driven.
Nowadays, with the continuous advancement of humanoid robot technology and the increasing application scenarios, humanoid robots produced in Zhejiang will increasingly enter people's daily lives, bringing more convenience and value to social production and life. (Reporter Dou Hao)
