The Self-Defense Force deployed the F-35A fighter jets to Komatsu base this time, aiming to strengthen the air defense system on the side of the Sea of ​​Japan. The Self-Defense Force also plans to deploy the F-35A to the Shintahara base in Miyazaki Prefecture this year.

  From the perspective of preventing Russia, North Korea and other countries, Komatsu base is positioned as a "mainland for air defense in the front of the Sea of ​​Japan." Masahito Mumama, commander of the Central Air Force Team, emphasized: "As the only combat aviation regiment on the Japanese Sea side, the Komatsu base will play a greater role."

  The F-35 fighter is not easy to be captured by radar and is a "fifth generation" fighter with excellent stealth performance. Its sensor has high accuracy and strong information processing capabilities. Relevant personnel from the Ministry of Defense pointed out that the fighter jet is not easy to be discovered by the opponent, and can also discover the opponent first.

  The Japanese government plans to purchase 105 traditional F-35As and 42 F-35Bs that can be carried on large frigates, with the goal of deploying a total of 147 F-35 fighters.

  According to the Ministry of Defense, 39 F-35As are currently deployed at the Misawa Base and 3 F-35As are deployed at the Komatsu Base. According to the plan, the Self-Defense Force will replace all F-15 fighter jets deployed at Komatsu base with F-35A, and will deploy 4 additional aircraft this year, a total of 7 F-35As.

  Aviation Self-Defense Force officials pointed out that the F-35 must be equipped with special protective equipment to exchange highly confidential combat information. The reason why the F-35 was first deployed at Sanze base is that the airport here is managed by the US military and has complete protection equipment.
